ChEESE Joins the EuroHPC User Day in Amsterdam

The EuroHPC User Day held in Amsterdam provided an important opportunity for collaboration among Europe's supercomputing community. Aerton Guimarães represented the ChEESE Project during the "Walk-in networking sessions focusing on specific EuroHPC user needs." Organized by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking and NCC Netherlands, the event allowed participants to discuss how EuroHPC resources are being utilized and explore solutions to the challenges faced by the research community.

For ChEESE, the event was an opportunity to connect with peers and share insights on how supercomputing can further advance research in geophysics. The discussions helped identify practical strategies for improving the use of high-performance computing (HPC) in scientific research and highlighted the ongoing contributions of projects like ChEESE.

In addition to ChEESE, several other notable European projects were present, including:

  • ESiWACE, represented by Gijs van den Oord and Alessio Sclocco
  • MAX, represented by Elisa Molinari
  • POP3, represented by Brian Wylie
  • EoCoE, represented by Edouard Audit
  • Excellerat2/CASTIEL, represented by Davide Padeletti

The event fostered valuable exchanges about best practices, collaborative opportunities, and the evolving role of HPC in scientific research. Through this engagement, the ChEESE Project continues to play its part in addressing the computing needs of the geophysics community while contributing to the wider EuroHPC goals.
